Tongue Twisters for Clear Speech: Adult Practice List by Difficulty
Tongue twisters are the simplest, quickest workout for clear speech. They make your lips and tongue move precisely and fast, and they expose the sounds that give you trouble. Below is a list sorted by level, plus the rules that make tongue twisters worth doing at all.
How to practise tongue twisters properly
- Start slowly. Say every sound with exaggerated clarity, as if someone were lip-reading you.
- Then whisper. A whisper won’t let you hide behind your voice, so your articulation has to work.
- Then say it at full voice and normal speed. Only speed up once you stop tripping.
- Watch the endings. The last sound of a word should be as crisp as the first.
Five to seven minutes a day is enough: 3–4 tongue twisters, 3–5 repetitions each. Warm up your lips and tongue first with a few diction exercises.

Practise every day
In the Голос app you read a short passage aloud and record it, and the pronunciation feedback shows where you’re still swallowing sounds. Then you get a weekly plan of short daily exercises, about 10 minutes a day, including articulation and reading aloud. The tongue twisters here fit in nicely alongside it: start with Level 1 and move on to the hard ones in a couple of weeks.
